Chinook Blast 2022!

Chinook Blast 2022!

Warm up your winter with the Chinook Blast! From February 4 - February 27, 2022, Chinook Blast will be heating up our city with a celebration of community, culture, and civic pride. The best of Calgary’s art, music, theatre, sport and recreation will be on display.

Greenview Industrial has partnered with local fabrication artist David Benediktson to create a homage to his Icelandic roots, and the winter traditions of Nordic cultures - Fiski Rekki - a traditional, Nordic rack to smoke white fish.

Looking Back at 2021

Happy new year, neighbors! With 2021 in the rear-view mirror, we’re looking back at the last 12 months to recap the neighborhood news and positive highlights from 2021!

Greenview Block Party, Outdoor Market, August 2021

Greenview Block Party, BUMP YYC Mural, August 2021

From our community partnership with the BUMP Festival (Beltline Urban Murals Project) to the Greenview Block Party and Krampusnacht, the BIA worked to attract new visitors to the neighborhood.

The BIA successfully applied for a grant and built out a partnership with the BUMP Festival to bring in local artist, CONZ, to create a mural that represented the community on the side of Boyd’s Autobody & Glass, along Edmonton Trail N. To celebrate the new mural, we hosted the inaugural Greenview Block Party on August 29, 2021.

The Greenview Block Party welcomed 600+ attendees to the outdoor event along 35th Avenue and featured a market of 17 local vendors, a guided mural tour through the community, 3 food trucks, and a beer garden with live music & entertainment, and an activation with BUMP Festival at the Boyd’s Autobody & Glass mural.

The City of Calgary municipal election welcomed Jyoti Gondek as the 37th (and 1st) female mayor to be elected. Our local Councillor, Sean Chu, held his position as the representative for Ward 4.

Krampusnacht, December 2021

On December 18, 2021, we hosted Krampusnacht - a spooky outdoor holiday celebration at Barbecues Galore! We partnered with 19 Greenview BIA businesses and artists and $1700 was awarded to winners of the Krampus costume contest to be spent at businesses in the community.

Looking ahead to 2022, the BIA will continue to create ways to engage with our fantastic local businesses, plan and host events with the city, develop more arts and culture partnerships, and find ways to improve our local infrastructure.

All of the best in 2022!

Canadian Cannabis Connoisseur Club

Ever since opening their doors approximately four months ago, the Canadian Cannabis Connoisseur Club (4C) has established itself in the neighbourhood as an approachable, engaging and friendly destination for anyone looking to pick up a wide variety of cannabis products. Their mandate is simple: make everyone feel welcome in the store and the lifestyle in general, whether they’re a first-time cannabis user or a seasoned veteran. Owners Chris and Jason started 4C in order to share their passion for cannabis with the community in an accessible location.

4C’s storefront is setup in a straightforward way. There is ample parking outside on their lot, or on the street along 1 St NE or 39 Ave NE. After entering through the door, visitors are greeted with a wide-open, minimalist layout that prioritizes trendy, colourful brands on display tables, rather than trying to pack too much product and accessories into the space. They’ve made it inviting to browse around and their staff is eager to answer any questions you may have about certain products, or even just get you excited about what they’re feeling lately.

Their selection is expansive, with most of the major cannabis brands present. Their offerings range from value buds (available in single grams, 3.5g, 7g and 28g) to higher-end products created with the connoisseur in mind. But that focus on the higher end of the retail market does not detract from the fact that you can walk into 4C with a $20 bill and leave satisfied with some quality bud. Bright, easy-to-read menus on television screens behind the counter make perusing their selection easy and features all the relevant information about each strain at a glance.

4C is also well-stocked with a variety of legalization 2.0 products, including drinks, edibles, gummies and vape cartridges. Their engaging staff will guide you through any unfamiliar products, and make product recommendations so you can find what fits your style best.

Once the pandemic lifts and as some cannabis regulations ease up or settle in, 4C is looking forward to providing much more of a lounge/hangout vibe. They’re planning on launching a lounge in the back where folks can consume cannabis in a chill social setting, get to know fellow connoisseurs or just make new friends.
